STACKER OPERATOR

Job DetailsJob Location: Independent Can Co Vandalia - Vandalia, OH 45377Salary Range: $17.44 - $22.00 HourlyJob Shift: 2ndSUMMARY: The Stacker Operator operates the automatic Stacker to restack, inspect, and prepare coated metal for transport. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 


Operate automatic Stacker to restack coated sheets
Inspect coated sheets for scratches, dents, bad lithography etc.
Use equipment such as automatic stackers, bundle turners, and a variety of hand tools
Accurately complete all necessary inspection forms and required documentation
Assist Coater Operator in Coater wash-up
Handle coatings and wash-up solvents
Strap and wrap loads of metal for safe removal
Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the Stacker work area
Perform quality checks and tests as necessary or when instructed
Report and document machine malfunctions to supervisor
Lubricate equipment as directed or required
Perform miscellaneous tasks as determined by supervisor or Coater Operator
Travel is required as needed for this position
Follow Company personnel and product safety requirements including standards such as those from SQF and internal GMPs
Follow proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with State and Federal laws
Other duties as assigned

Better than average mechanical ability

Must know the proper use of tape measure


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The employee frequently is required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; and hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Will handle loads of metal weighing approximately 4,000 pounds on conveyors.
