Requirements
The Office of General Counsel, led by Vice President and General Counsel Adam Adler, is responsible for the provision of legal services to the University and its officers, directors, administrators, faculty and staff. The office provides legal advice and counsel on the broad spectrum of legal issues that arise in the operation of the University. The office is also responsible for engaging the services of outside law firms for specialized legal needs and for coordinating and supervising their work.
The Paralegal is responsible for paralegal and litigation support services (including coordinating response to subpoenas and assisting in discovery), corporate support (including coordinating the audit letter process, obtaining necessary corporate documents, and making filings), and contract administration and review. This position is also responsible for providing high level administrative support to the Vice President and General Counsel and other attorneys as assigned. Duties include but are not limited to:
Assist with document collection in connection with subpoenas and discovery.
Manage contract intake, conduct basic contract review, and coordinate the legal review process.
Coordinate and ensure timely corporate filings.
Provide direct high-level administrative support to all attorneys.
Work Interactions
This position reports directly to the General Counsel and works closely with all attorneys in the department, and in particular with the University Counsel responsible for litigation. This position will have considerable visibility and will interact with senior leaders at the university as well as numerous university staff. It will require an ability to work as a team player with many people from varied backgrounds. The Paralegal must be flexible and be able to work independently and under pressure. The position requires an ability to maintain confidentiality, as the incumbent will need to develop positive working relationships with various university offices and counterparts to ensure proper representation of the Office of General Counsel.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree
Excellent writing, analytical and communication skills with excellent proofreading skills, attention to detail, and thoroughness
Must have proficiency with MS Word and experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe
Ability to work effectively across departments and offices, engaging resources in an appropriate manner
Must be proactive and able to work independently, efficiently, and professionally
Excellent judgment in working with various constituencies with the ability to exercise discretion and diplomacy at all times
Administrative assistant experience preferred, as well as experience with contract review, legal research and/or litigation support

Pay Range:
The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
