The Director of Financial Planning and Analysis will play a crucial role in guiding the company through a period of high growth as it partners with management to best allocate resources and achieve our strategic goals. This position will be responsible for executing budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and key strategic finance projects. This role will help generate new insights for margins, operating expenses, headcount, capital expenditures, product commercialization and R&D project analysis. This role reports to the Vice President of Finance.
As part of our team, your core responsibilities will be:
- Develop, lead and oversee the quarterly and annual budgeting process, as well as ongoing forecasting efforts to enable organization to deliver on key objectives.
- Maintain monthly reporting package.
- Develop and maintain financial models to support business planning, scenario analysis, and decision-making.
- Provide insightful analysis of financial performance, variance analysis, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends, opportunities, and risks and make informed recommendations.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to understand need and drive alignment on financial goals, assumptions, and priorities.
- Work closely with Commercial and G&A leadership (Functional/Dept heads) to understand the value drivers to the business.
- Manage and enhance the business budgeting and planning software, Adaptive Planning
- Create new html Adaptive reports and office connect reporting to streamline monthly review and executive reporting.
- Partner with R&D to create detailed business plans and ROI.
- Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting tools, and systems to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness.
- Support accounting team on month-end closing and quarterly filings, as needed.
- Ability to go as low and tactical and core data pulls and as high as strategic data analysis and looking beyond the numbers to make key decisions.
- Managerial courage to point out strategic concepts that go against conventional thought.
Qualifications
It is essential that the candidate demonstrates exceptional expertise in Workday Adaptive Planning and brings the following crucial skills:
Expertise in Model Building
- Deep understanding of sheets, dimensions, accounts, levels, and versions.
- Ability to design scalable and flexible models that align with business needs.
Data Integration Proficiency
- Skilled in managing integrations with Workday Financials, HR, or external systems (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce).
- Familiarity with Adaptive Integration Framework (AIF) or APIs.
Formula and Logic Mastery
- Strong grasp of formula writing, including nested logic, lookup functions, and conditional calculations.
Reporting and Dashboarding
- Ability to create intuitive, insightful reports and dashboards tailored to different stakeholders (e.g., Finance, Executives, Department Heads)
- Ability to automate a significant amount of data flow in and out of Adaptive from ERP or other qualified data sources
- Ability to set up automated reporting, dashboards, and other analysis tools
In addition, the candidate should have the following:
- A Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting
- 15 years of progressive experience in finance related roles.
- 7+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis
- Biotech or healthcare indust
