About the role
HCSS, a 16-time “Best Company to Work For in Texas” software company in Sugar Land is searching for a Human Resources Intern to work during the Spring 2026 semester. The Human Resources Intern will gain hands-on exposure across multiple areas of Human Resources, including Talent Acquisition, HR Business Partner support, and HR Operations. This is a PAID internship where you will gain in-depth skills in our tech stack that will take you further to success. You will make an impact by contributing to our product teams in order to deliver high-quality software applications to our customers.

Here’s what to expect:
During the Spring semester, you can work up to 25 hours a week. We’ll work around your school schedule.
Here’s what we’re looking for:
- You’re currently enrolled in an accredited college/university and able to commute to our office during your internship

What will you be doing?
Talent Acquisition (TA):
- Review applications, technical and video assessment submissions.
- Conduct phone screens for early career and entry-level roles.
- Manage the recruiting inbox/help desk and ensure timely responses.
- Prepare interview guidelines, scorecards, and communication templates for the recruiting team.
- Learn and utilize Gem ATS and Google Workspace tools to maintain data hygiene.
- Support career fairs and recruiting events, including preparation, logistics, and follow-up.
- Generate and maintain recruiting reports and metrics (e.g., pipeline tracking, response rates).
- Support compliance in hiring documentation, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements.
HR Business Partner (HRBP):
- Support compliance and data reporting efforts, including headcount, turnover, and other HR metrics.
- Partner with HRBPs on annual and special projects, such as:
- Job Descriptions: Collect and track submissions; follow up on pending items.
- Compliance Documentation: Review reports and ensure completion of acknowledgments.
- Focal Process: Pull data from Paycor, monitor completion rates, and assist in manager follow-ups.
- Assist with creating HR communications (newsletters, slide decks, and site updates).
- Provide event coordination and logistical support for HR programs such as UGM or internal engagement initiatives.
- Maintain and update HR trackers, templates, and documentation to ensure consistency and compliance.
HR Operations:
- Assist with benefit invoice reconciliations for all health and wellness programs.
- Support payroll processing activities, ensuring data accuracy and timeliness.
- Help maintain HRIS data integrity and updates across employee records.
- Conduct research and assist with HR compliance initiatives, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local laws.
- Prepare HR-related reports and presentations as needed.
- Support day-to-day HR Operations administrative tasks and lead or co-lead 2–3 assigned projects focused on process improvement, data analysis, or program enhancement.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee and company data at all times.
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
“Nice to Haves”:
- Previous internship or work experience in an office or HR environment.
- Familiarity with HRIS and ATS platforms (e.g., ADP, Workday, Paycor, Gem).
- Basic understanding of HR compliance (e.g., FMLA, ADA, EEO).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
