Purpose

To provide academic advising to students pursuing Human Ecology majors. Provide seat management and curriculum assistance to the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences (HDFS). To advance our core mission of fostering wellness, belonging, and success for all students.

Responsibilities

  • Attend meetings, professional development and serve on committees as assigned. Support or lead office projects as needed. Other duties as assigned, including supporting special projects and staffing events within CNS.
  • Provide seat management and curriculum support to the Department of HDFS. Serve as primary liaison for HDFS faculty members and HDFS faculty advisor.
  • Present academic advising material through workshops, facilitate multiple sections of CNS Foundations Cornerstone seminars, and participate in new student orientation.
  • Provide academic advising to School of Human Ecology majors. Provide accurate and timely information on degrees, University resources, internship/practicum options, and long-term planning.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of professional experience working with college students in an academic counseling capacity. Demonstrated ability to effectively provide academic advising to students. Experience with working with faculty. Ability to teach, present, and/or train a wide range of students. Proven ability to effectively and positively collaborate with others. Superb written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills. Must be student-centered and focused on student success. Ability to anticipate next steps and initiate action without being asked. Proven ability to act with discretion and hold necessary information confidential. Limited evening and weekend hours may be required.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Degree in a SoHE major. Experience and knowledge of School of Human Ecology majors. Experience working in seat management and course and curriculum.

Salary Range

$45,000

Working Conditions
