You have an amazing opportunity to join a 113+ year global Japanese conglomerate with wide ranging businesses in diverse industries such as Energy, Industrial and Technology. As part of Hitachi Digital, a subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., you will be part of the creation of a centralized digital strategy transformation by combining our digital capabilities across many Hitachi groups.
As part of the CSO Office, the internship will provide the opportunity to dive into the world of market analysis, strategy, and business development in Hitachi’s global corporate environment with both IT and OT (operational technology) in mind, while contributing to our business growth.
This role is Santa Clara on-site/hybrid. The candidate is expected to work at our Santa Clara campus a few days a week and remotely in the Santa Clara area for the duration of the internship.
What You’ll Be Doing
We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical individual to join our team as a Market Research and Business Development Intern who has a keen interest in the AI industry.
The role will be focused on understanding Hitachi’s positioning in the market, preparing market insights and its implications on Hitachi’s business as an input to our corporate strategy, and supporting key business incubation initiatives in the AI space.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct AI market research to identify trends, opportunities, and ecosystem landscape through various sources, focused on software engineering, professional services, and operation technology space including Energy, Rail, and Industrial verticals.
- Support business incubation initiatives as a program management office including internal program promotion, demo-day planning and execution.
- Support the preparation of presentations and reports for executive leadership and external stakeholders.
What You Bring To The Team
- Currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science and Analytics, and related domains. Having affinity to Electrical Engineering, Business, Marketing, Finance, or a combination of Business & Technology is a huge plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Japanese is advantageous but not required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to work in ambiguous environments both as a self-starter and as a team.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated capability to meet the deadlines.

As required by the equal pay and transparency acts, the expected hourly rate for this position is:
- Santa Clara, California: $20 - $30 per hour.
The expected pay is determined based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, depth of experience in the practice area.
