The Nursing Assistant in Training provides supervised resident care in accordance with established policies, procedures and regulatory standards. This role serves as a preparatory step toward certification as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and assists residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensures a safe and comfortable environment, and supports licensed nursing staff in delivering individualized care in accordance with regulatory requirements and facility policies.

Responsibilities:
- Provide direct resident care, including assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, incontinent care as applicable, oral hygiene and feeding.
- Measure and record vital signs, weight, percentage of meal consumed intake/output as directed.
- Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and position using proper body mechanics and lift equipment as applicable.
- Respond promptly to call lights, resident needs, and changes in condition; report observations to licensed nursing staff.
- Support residents’ independence and dignity, while ensuring safety and comfort.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation and in accordance with facility procedures.
- Maintains a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
- Provides postmortem care.
- Make routine rounds on each assigned resident every two hours.
- Contributes to the residents’ assessment (MDS/CAA’s) and the plan of care.
- Provides nursing rehabilitation/restorative nursing services
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Graduate/GED
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Must have graduated from a state approved nursing assistant training program and must pass a state approved competency examination (written and skills) within 120 days of employment; name entered into state nurse aide registry.
