Job Description:
Nebraska needs a more robust HIV/STI surveillance efforts to adequately address the rising HIV/STI rates. By maintaining comprehensive surveillance, the coordinator helps to allocate resources efficiently, target populations who are most vulnerable for HIV/STI acquisition and support public health initiatives aimed at reducing HIV/STI transmission. This role is vital to Public Health's mission as it provides the foundation for informed decision making, policy development, and community health improvement efforts. Ultimately, the HIV/STI Surveillance Coordinator contributes to the overall health and well-being of Nebraska's residents by promoting early detection, treatment, intervention, and prevention of HIV/ST is. To effectively combat the HIV/STI crisis in Nebraska, maintaining and improving surveillance must be prioritized.

Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a field related to public health, social services, human services, program administration, epidemiology, or other relevant field. Work and/or volunteer experience will be considered as an alternative to a formal degree.
Knowledge of:
Lab reporting, data collection, and monitoring; State and Federal legislation and administrative regulations relating to the program administered; the organizational structure, functions, policies, procedures, goals, and mission of the agency; the structure, functional relationships and administrative processes of the executive and legislative branches of State government; the scope and impact of the operations of assigned programs and their relationship to other programs within the Health Department; knowledge of SAS (Statistical Analysis System) is helpful, but not required.
