About the role
At Amazon, the Business Engineer II in the Finance Operations Service, AR Healthcare team will build the data analytics that enables Amazon to manage an efficient cash cycle in the healthcare business.
The position offers broad exposure to various business, including operational, financial, and technical teams across Amazon. The successful candidate will work with exceptionally talented and determined people committed to financial improvement, scalability, and process excellence. They will build data pipelines, gather customer insights, and mine data. They will excel at understanding and reading insights from the data; in which their recommendations will help senior leaders make key short-term to long-term business decisions. The insights will enable service development for our customers. Data analytics is not the main product of the role; business outcomes are.
This position requires excellent analytical abilities and a creative mind to invent solutions in technical architecture, business process, and financial outcomes. The position requires an understanding of the customer's need for data and their experience with BI output.

Key job responsibilities
A day in the life
The Business Intelligence Engineer will work with business team, business analysts, and technical teams (e.g. data engineering) at our global locations. They will spend time with business and process owners brainstorming and white-boarding data-metrics-visualizations-outcomes, as well as shadowing them on the job. Thus equipped, the role will actively identify and explore data in various subject areas; and strive to build pipelines and repositories to the highest standards of performance and governance. Further, the role will build highly performant dashboards for the internal users, obtain detailed feedback and iterate.

Global AR, Data Analytics (GARDA)'s mission is to drive decisions and business impact using data and insights. In close cooperation with our stakeholders, we translate business goals into uniform metrics; use data from a ‘single source of truth’; provide automated, self-service, standard reporting; and build descriptive, prescriptive and predictive analytics. Key job responsibilities
- Apply data mining and quantitative analysis to understand customer and partner behavior, operations process, and financial performance.
- Identify how to improve the customer experience and our performance.
- Own the design, development, and maintenance of ongoing performance metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions.
- Build scalable solutions / self-serve platforms that will provide data / KPIs to inform business decision making.
- Acquire various data sources to enable holistic analysis at a global level.
- Build various data visualizations to tell the story and let the data speak for itself.
- Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation.

Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
