Adjunct RN (OBGYN) Clinical Instructors wanted - Varies (Tuesday to Sunday we have rotations available on each give day) Morning and afternoon 

It is the belief of the faculty of the Nursing Department at Marsha Fuerst School of Nursing that each member should have defined responsibilities and that the Nursing Department accepts the responsibility of supporting its members in the achievement of both departmental and individual professional goals.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Adjunct Clinical Instructor – OB/GYN provides clinical supervision and instruction to nursing students in maternal-newborn and women’s health settings. The instructor is responsible for guiding students in applying nursing knowledge to direct patient care, ensuring safe clinical practice, and evaluating student performance in accordance with program objectives and regulatory standards.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical Instruction and Supervision

Supervise and instruct nursing students during OB/GYN clinical rotations in healthcare settings.
Guide students in providing safe, competent, and patient-centered care to obstetric and neonatal patients.
Facilitate clinical learning experiences in areas including:

Prenatal care
Labor and delivery
Postpartum care
Newborn assessment and care
Women’s health and reproductive care


Ensure adherence to clinical policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Student Evaluation and Feedback

Evaluate student clinical performance through direct observation, skills assessments, and clinical documentation.
Provide immediate, constructive feedback to support skill development and clinical judgment.
Complete midterm and final clinical evaluations in accordance with program guidelines.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and competencies.

Clinical Coordination and Communication

Collaborate with clinical site staff to coordinate student learning experiences.
Communicate clinical expectations, objectives, and assignments to students.
Serve as a liaison between the nursing program and clinical facility personnel.
Ensure clinical assignments align with course objectives and student learning needs.

Mentorship and Student Support

Serve as a professional role model demonstrating safe, ethical, and compassionate nursing care.
Support students in developing confidence, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making skills.
Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive clinical learning environment.

Professional Development and Compliance

Maintain current clinical competency in OB/GYN and maternal-newborn nursing.
Stay current with evidence-based practices, healthcare regulations, and standards of care.
Participate in faculty meetings, training, and professional development as required.
Ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements.

QualificationsESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) may be accepted based on program and regulatory requirements.

Licensure

Current, active, and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.

Experience

Minimum of three (3) years of recent clinical experience in OB/GYN, labor and delivery, maternal-newborn, or women’s health nursing within the last five years.

Teaching/Precepting Experience

Prior clinical teaching, precepting, or mentoring experience preferred, but not required .

Clinical Competency

Demonstrated expertise in:


Labor and delivery
Postpartum and newborn care
Maternal and fetal assessment
Women’s health nursing practices

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective student instruction and collaboration with clinical
