Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated and dedicated individual to join our educational institution as a Paraeducator Pre-Apprentice with a focus on the Technology Classroom. In this position, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of students while collaborating with the teaching staff to create a positive and engaging educational environment.
A benefit of this position is enrolling in the Utah Registered Apprenticeship Program for Teachers (U-RAPT), a new pathway for those seeking an educator license. U-RAPT pre-apprentices are eligible to receive up to $4,000 per year to cover college tuition, fees, and other instructional costs as funding permits.
Position Details: U-RAPT: All About Pre-Apprentices
Responsibilities:
Student Support: Provide individualized and small group instruction to students. Monitor student behavior and ensure a safe and respectful classroom atmosphere. Support students during classroom activities, transitions, and independent work. Assist with personal care needs as required.
Instructional Assistance: Collaborate with the teacher to prepare and organize instructional materials. Implement lesson plans and activities under the teacher's supervision. Provide feedback to students to support their academic growth.
Communication: Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and other staff members. Keep accurate records of student progress and behavior.
Professional Development: Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and stay updated with current educational practices.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Strong technology skills including knowledge of G-Suite, Skillstruck or other beginning programming software, Keyboarding skills, and knowledge of Digital Literacy requirements as listed in the Utah Core Standards
- Passion for working with children and supporting their educational development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to establish positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic educational environment.
As a Paraeducator Pre-Apprentice, you will work under the supervision and guidance of assigned classroom teachers and a paraeducator journeyworker to help learn and demonstrate the Utah Instructional Paraeducator Standards.
