Job Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.

Job Summary:As a Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) in the Resource Pool, you will provide specialized nursing care for pediatric patients, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being across various pediatric units. You will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team, including pediatric physicians, families, and other healthcare professionals. Your role will include administering medications and treatments tailored to children, educating patients and families, and ensuring timely and effective care delivery across both Salt Lake City Primary Children’s Hospital and Lehi-Miller Primary Children’s Hospital campuses. You will float between both campuses as needed to support staffing requirements, delivering care to children in a variety of pediatric specialties.About Us:

Key Responsibilities:As a Pediatric Registered Nurse in the Resource Pool, you will:

• Assess Pediatric Patients: Evaluate the physical, social, and psychological condition of pediatric patients, including cognitive, communicative, and developmental needs.
• Collaborate with Healthcare Team: Work closely with pediatric physicians and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans for pediatric patients.
• Administer Pediatric Care: Provide age-appropriate medications and treatments, ensuring safety and comfort for children under your care.
• Patient and Family Education: Offer guidance and education to both children and their families about care plans, treatment options, and health management.
• Coordinate Care Across Units: Float between different pediatric units at both Salt Lake-PCH and Lehi-Miller PCH campuses to support patient care needs as staffing demands fluctuate.
• Evaluate Care Effectiveness: Assess patient responses to interventions, modify care plans as needed, and document clinical outcomes and family satisfaction.

Position Details:

• Scheduled Weekly Hours: Full-time, 36 hours per week
• Shift: Mix or straight nights; flexibility to float between Salt Lake-PCH and Lehi-Miller PCH campuses as needed
• Location: Salt Lake City Primary Children’s Hospital and Lehi-Miller Primary Children’s Hospital campuses
• Float and shift differentials included

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 8 months of nursing experience
• Current RN License in the state of practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• RNs with less than 12 months of RN experience with Intermountain must complete their BSN within 5 years of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution

Physical Requirements:

• Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
• Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
