JOB SUMMARY

In partnership with Property Management and Asset Management, the Resident Accounts Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of resident account management, with a primary focus on timely rent collection, delinquent account recovery, and optimizing accounts receivable performance. Reporting to the VP of Property Operations, this role drives strategies that ensure rent is billed, collected, and tracked with precision, while maintaining compliance with company policies and housing regulations. The Resident Accounts Manager will monitor key financial metrics, develop effective collection processes, and lead a team to maximize rent recovery and minimize bad debt. This position plays a critical role in supporting the financial health of SoLa’s housing portfolio by ensuring accurate resident account data and achieving consistent collection outcomes.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Oversee and execute all aspects of resident accounts management, including billing, collections, and payment processing for current and past-due rent
  • Monitor and track resident account balances daily to ensure timely rent collection and minimize delinquencies.
  • Develop and implement effective delinquency recovery strategies, including repayment plans, legal notices, and coordinated follow-up with residents
  • Ensure accurate and timely posting of rent charges, late fees, concessions, and adjustments in property management systems
  • Maintain and report on accounts receivable KPIs, including collection rates, delinquency trends, and recovery performance
  • Collaborate with Property Managers and Legal teams to initiate and manage eviction processes, when necessary
  • Provide regular analysis of resident payment behavior and trends to inform policy and operational adjustments
  • Respond to resident account inquiries and disputes with professionalism and accuracy, resolving billing concerns efficiently
  • Assist with monthly close-out processes, ensuring financial accuracy and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards
  • Support financial audits by preparing account documentation and responding to audit inquiries
  • Train and supervise staff responsible for accounts receivable and ensure adherence to internal controls and procedures
  • All other duties as assigned by the VP of Property Operations or Accounting leadership

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or related field from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in property management, accounts receivable, or rent collection—preferably in affordable or multifamily housing
