WORKING TITLE: SENIOR PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANT
This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in Finance and Accounting.
The mission of the Finance and Accounting Department in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to ensure the responsible stewardship of the Department's financial resources.
This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.
JOB DUTIES:
- Compliance Assurance: Ensure adherence to §215.422 F.S., State Expenditure guidelines, department procedures, HIPAA, and other fiscal standards for accurate and timely payments.
- Entry Verification: Process entries using systems like Ariba on Demand (AOD/MFMP), FLAIR, PALM, BARS, CAIRS, and Axiom Pro.
- Voucher Analysis: Analyze vouchers daily to ensure they are current, complete, accurate, and ready for quality assurance in Axiom Pro.
- Accounting Review: Review and analyze accounting records, including contract balances, allotments, encumbrances, and payables.
- Invoice Auditing: Audit invoices for proper certification and authorization, identifying and correcting any discrepancies.
- High-Profile Processing: Handle high-profile contract invoices, settlement agreements, and court-ordered payments.
- Support and Reconciliation: Provide accounting support, reconcile contract payment logs quarterly, and prepare required reports.
- Training and Year-End Assistance: Maintain required training hours, stay current with accounting systems, and assist with year-end closing activities and special projects.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Must be permitted to have access to Department Institutions and FLAIR.
- Must possess at least two (2) years of experience in accounting, finance, or administration.
- Must possess at least one (1) year of state of Florida accounts payable experience.
