Rowan University invites applicants for the newly launched Master of Social Work (MSW). This full- time faculty member will join a growing team at the rank of Lecturer/ Sr. Lecturer beginning fall ‘24. Rowan’s MSW specialization in mental health, equity and well-being supports transdisciplinary learning. Students have the option to pursue additional certification across university graduate programs including but not limited to diversity and inclusion, wellness coaching, public policy, and emergency management. The program prepares students for licensure and practice across a broad range of clinical, medical, educational, and policy environments. This is an exciting time for Rowan and we seek an experienced, energetic, and collaborative practitioner who is committed to excellence in social work education.
Position Requirements:
Applicants must possess an MSW from an accredited program as well as a DSW/ Ph.D. in Social Work or related field (ABD may be considered). The ideal candidate will be licensed with 2 years post MSW experience - a broad range of practice/ research areas of focus will be considered, have experience teaching at the college/ university level, be familiar with technology and learning management systems, demonstrate strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills and be committed to mental health, equity, and well-being.

Workload equivalent to 12 credit hours of teaching per semester in MSW core courses (in-person and online).

Curriculum/ Course development: The position is open to candidates with a broad range of practice/ research experience, but an ability to develop courses from a defined area of specialized practice e.g. policy, research, or direct clinical practice is preferred.

Engage in curriculum development that uphold CSWE best practices and standards

Assist in accreditation activities such as goal setting, implementation and evaluation.

Outside of teaching responsibilities, faculty may be asked to assist with advising, practicum supervision, and other student support. Faculty must set aside weekly office hours for students and attend faculty meetings.

The Social Work Program’s mission is to teach, model, and advance social work knowledge values, and skills to prepare social workers to build responsive, equitable services and systems in the context of a diverse and dynamic society and advance mental health, equity, and well-being for individuals, families, groups, organizations, and communities in South Jersey and beyond. The program was established in Fall ‘23 and is in pre-candidacy for accreditation. Master of social work classes are held in the afternoon and evening on Rowan’s Glassboro campus.
