Position Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide a Collaborative Learning Environment

• Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement
• Plan appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities including determination of appropriate kind and level of materials
• Implement an instructional program which provides appropriate learning experiences, considering different learning styles and a range of learning curves
• Manage student behavior in all parts of the school building and grounds, both during and outside of school hours, and in compliance with the Fort Bend ISD Student/Parent Handbook
• Ensure continuous communication with parents, both written and orally, to keep them informed of student(s) progress and upcoming activities
• Communicate regularly with students on instructional expectations keeping them informed of their progress
• Ensure classroom and/or instructional environment is beneficial, healthful, safe, and conducive to learning while ensuring materials are accessible to students and in good condition
• Support and participate in school wide student activities and social events and approved fund raising activities
• As assigned or required, monitor student behavior in non-instructional areas and intervenes to control and modify disruptive behavior, reporting to appropriate administrator

• Assess student abilities and achievement as related to the District's elementary STEM curriculum, as well as desired educational goals and outcomes
• Integrate students' use of technology into inquiry-based instructional lessons focused on the Technology Applications TEKS
• Provide opportunities for families to engage in STEM activities
• Maintain a current inventory of all STEM equipment and instructional materials

• Participate in staff development, in-service activities and staff meetings
• Understand and uphold all rules, regulations and dates that pertain to the instructional programs and FBISD policies
• From time-to-time, collaborate with other professionals to carry out school-wide instructional or related activities
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Bachelor's Degree in elementary education
• Master's Degree preferred
• Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment PK-6
• Minimum of 3 years Pre-service teaching experience
• Familiar with educational technology tools
• Demonstrated knowledge of FBISD program of studies related to assignments and public school mission, goals and organization
• Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials and equipment of instructional specialty(ies) to which assigned
• Demonstrated knowledge of adolescent growth and development or, if applicable, adult learning theory
