Job OverviewThe STEM Outclass teacher will implement an elementary STEM instructional program during the school day based on the district's written curriculum. The incumbent will provide a collaborative learning environment that utilizes technology. The incumbent will manage student behavior, assess and evaluate student achievement, and modify instructional activities as needed.
Position Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide a Collaborative Learning Environment
- Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement
- Plan appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities including determination of appropriate kind and level of materials
- Implement an instructional program which provides appropriate learning experiences, considering different learning styles and a range of learning curves
- Manage student behavior in all parts of the school building and grounds, both during and outside of school hours, and in compliance with the Fort Bend ISD Student/Parent Handbook
- Ensure continuous communication with parents, both written and orally, to keep them informed of student(s) progress and upcoming activities
- Communicate regularly with students on instructional expectations keeping them informed of their progress
- Ensure classroom and/or instructional environment is beneficial, healthful, safe, and conducive to learning while ensuring materials are accessible to students and in good condition
- Support and participate in school wide student activities and social events and approved fund raising activities
- As assigned or required, monitor student behavior in non-instructional areas and intervenes to control and modify disruptive behavior, reporting to appropriate administrator
- Assess student abilities and achievement as related to the District's elementary STEM curriculum, as well as desired educational goals and outcomes
- Integrate students' use of technology into inquiry-based instructional lessons focused on the Technology Applications TEKS
- Provide opportunities for families to engage in STEM activities
- Maintain a current inventory of all STEM equipment and instructional materials
- Participate in staff development, in-service activities and staff meetings
- Understand and uphold all rules, regulations and dates that pertain to the instructional programs and FBISD policies
- From time-to-time, collaborate with other professionals to carry out school-wide instructional or related activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in elementary education
- Master's Degree preferred
- Valid Teaching Certification Issued by Texas Education Agency appropriate to subject and grade level of assignment PK-6
- Minimum of 3 years Pre-service teaching experience
- Familiar with educational technology tools
- Demonstrated knowledge of FBISD program of studies related to assignments and public school mission, goals and organization
- Demonstrated knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials and equipment of instructional specialty(ies) to which assigned
- Demonstrated knowledge of adolescent growth and development or, if applicable, adult learning theory
