Position Summary


This position reports to the site Manager Nuclear Maintenance and provides oversight of the planning, preparation, and execution of reactor head disassembly/reassembly, fuel handling, and dry cask activities at the Nuclear stations. The superintendent directly manages the Reactor Maintenance supervisor and technical support personnel and routinely interfaces with both the site and corporate management. The superintendent shares responsibility with site leadership for ensuring identification and removal of barriers to efficient work completion.  As a member of the station leadership team, the Supt Nuclear Reactor Maintenance provides leadership and accountability for station safety and environmental performance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership, direction, and oversight for the Reactor Maintenance subunit

  • Maintains the integrity of the site design and design basis by ensuring the delivery of high-quality reactor maintenance products

  • Provides daily interface with the site leadership team regarding emergent issue response

  • Monitors the quality of products through observations and ensures appropriate product reviews are completed, including outage readiness reviews

  • Provides overall management of reactor maintenance critical path refueling outage activities by leveraging and communicating effectively with the Outage Command Center (OCC).

  • Conducts outage preparation, refueling equipment PMs, equipment refurbishment, Spent Fuel storage area management.

  • Coordinates the responsibilities for outage preparation, non-assigned site fleet outage support, and required PMs at the assigned sites.

  • Participates in nuclear plant performance assessments such as INPO evaluations, station self-assessments

  • Ensures that all work at the station follow CORE 4 and Keys to Life behaviors.

  • Assist in other discipline leadership, direction, and oversight roles within Maintenance Department.

  • Ability to perform Emergency Response Organization OSC Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities.

  • Ensure station environmental, health and safety objectives are met.

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with external suppliers and alliance partners.

  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships between departments, internal and external customers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in engineering, technical, or science + 3 years related experience OR

  • HS Diploma/GED + 5 years related experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree from an Accredited university; or 13 years of related experience in lieu of a degree

  • 3 years of previous supervisor experience

  • Reactor Head Disassembly/Reassembly/Inspection experience

  • Previous power plant maintenance or operations experience

  • Previous SRO License, certification, or TNC

  • Demonstrated effective leadership skills

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects or complex maintenance activities

  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of customers in all levels of an organization

  • Demonstrated effective analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills

  • Ability to deliver superior results within allocated time through effective prioritization, scheduling, planning and execution of assigned work

  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing processes, regulations, responsibilities, and work environments

  • Financial knowledge and skills including ability to analyze data

  • Strong computer skills including ability to use various applications

  • Extensive knowledge of reactor head disassembly/reassembly activities, fuel handling activities, dry cask storage activities, and maintenance related governing processes and procedures.
