Labcorp is seeking a Director - New Ventures and Strategic Alliances, Labcorp Venture Fund to join our team in Durham, NC!

Work Schedule: 1st shift hours with hybrid work model availability.

Job Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Vice President of New Ventures & Strategic Alliances (NVSA), the Director will, in partnership with the broader NVSA team, work closely with Labcorp’s executive team, senior business and commercial leaders, scientific and technical experts, as well as external entrepreneurs and investors to successfully identify, negotiate, execute, and manage Labcorp Venture Fund equity investments in early-stage private companies developing novel solutions to important problems in health and healthcare.

This role is a key contributor to bringing innovation and strategic opportunities to the company.  As part of the Labcorp Venture Fund and Corporate Development team that pursues new ventures and strategic alliances, the Director enables and supports the diagnostic and biopharma services business units with their strategic and growth objectives through the investment in and commercialization of innovative technology. 

The Labcorp Venture Fund invests broadly in diagnostic & early development innovations as well as AI-enabled med tech, digital platforms, and tech-enabled services that enhance research and care delivery, including:

  • Novel diagnostic tests, biomarkers, platforms, and services

  • Point of care testing and collection devices

  • Clinical trial enablement and optimization

  • Precision medicine and clinical decision support tools

  • Digital health and health tech offerings

  • Population health, VBC, and health equity 

  • Consumer wellness, engagement, and convenience 

  • Real world data and biopharma services

  • AI-enabled lab logistics and automation

  • Early development and cell/gene therapy tools

The Director will be part of a team responsible for both evaluating new investment opportunities and managing current portfolio companies. Responsibilities will span all stages of the investment process including developing market and competitive landscape analyses for specific healthcare industry sub-sectors, opportunity sourcing, opportunity prioritization, due diligence, negotiating deal terms, executing transactions, and alliance management and partnership exploration with portfolio companies.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 7 or more years of experience in the healthcare field

  • 5 or more years of experience with VC/PE, corporate development, strategy, consulting, and/or investment banking

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA and/or MS, PhD, or MD

  • 2 or more years of experience with corporate venture capital or healthcare venture/investment banking

  • 2 or more years of experience with diagnostic and drug development industry trends and regulatory and reimbursement.

Additional Job Standards

  • Ability to demonstrate financial and analytical skills with venture capital financial instruments and deal terms; understanding of company valuation methodologies and capitalization structures.

  • Ability to demonstrate a strong history of success in positions of increasing responsibility.

  • Inquisitiveness and ability to dive deep and understand new clinical research, emerging technologies, research, publications, and emerging healthcare science.

  • Ability to demonstrate effective writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.<
