The Opportunity
The position of Sr. Procurement Manager is within our CMI Cardiometabolic and Informatics business unit located in Lake Forest, Illinois.
In this role you will plan, direct, and monitor all purchasing activities so that the goods, materials, supplies, and services the organization buys meet its standards of price, quality, timing, and reliability of supply. This role will be responsible for setting and executing procurement strategies for goods and services required within the entity. In conjunction with supporting internal business areas and projects, identifies opportunities for cost reduction, quality and technology, develops and executes strategies to achieve them.
What You’ll Work On
- Liaise with managers to anticipate their demand for goods and materials.
- Develop plans, cost estimates, and schedules for integrating these needs into existing purchasing activities.
- Evaluate and select suppliers.
- Negotiate terms for major purchases within established limits of authority.
- Develop policies, checklists, and other materials that describe the organization’s technical, quality, service, or reliability standards to help purchasing staff evaluate supplier proposals.
- Analyze and evaluate the organization’s overall purchasing trends to potential bulk purchases.
- Analyze and evaluate external price trends and new product offerings to reduce overall purchasing costs.
- Select and manage relationships with major suppliers, vendors, or sub-contractors to ensure the organization receives satisfactory standards of service.
- Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of purchasing staff to ensure the team’s resources are used effectively and work schedules and targets are met.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 7 years of relevant experience in procurement and supply chain management.
- Proven 7–10-year track record in procurement and supply chain operations, with a strong focus on strategic sourcing and vendor management.
- Extensive experience (7–10 years) in procurement and/or category management, including functional expertise across key procurement processes.
- Experience negotiating terms purchasing agreements.
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
- Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
- Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
- Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
- Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
