Sr. Composite Design Engineer

The Senior Composite Design Engineer will lead the design, analysis, and development of composite components and structures. You will be responsible for managing complex engineering projects from concept through to production, ensuring that all designs meet performance, quality, and cost requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of composite materials, advanced design techniques, and strong leadership capabilities.

Day to Day Duties

• Lead the design and development of composite structures and components for [specific applications, e.g., aerospace, automotive].
• Apply advanced composite design methodologies, including finite element analysis (FEA) and computer-aided design (CAD), to optimize performance and durability.
• Develop and execute test plans to validate designs and ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
• Manage and coordinate multiple design projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and technical specifications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, materials science, and quality assurance, to integrate design solutions and resolve issues.
• Provide expert guidance on composite materials, including carbon fiber, aramid, and glass fibers, and their applications.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in composite engineering.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex engineering problems related to composite design and manufacturing.
• Prepare detailed design documentation, including specifications, drawings, and reports.
• Present design concepts and project updates to stakeholders and senior management.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards.
• Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior engineers and design staff.
• Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance team skills and knowledge in composite design.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field; Master’s degree or Ph.D. preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in composite design engineering ion the aerospace industry, with a proven track record in leading complex projects and delivering high-quality results. Must have Structural analysis experience.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in composite design tools (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, ANSYS), advanced knowledge of composite materials and manufacturing processes, and experience with FEA and CAD software.
• Project Management: Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present technical information to diverse audiences.
• Leadership: Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in mentoring and developing engineering talent.
