The AstraZeneca Mt. Vernon site was established in 1972 and is the flagship site delivering innovative, life changing oral solid medicines. At the site we formulate and pack OSD tablets and capsules for over 60+ markets. The Mt Vernon site is complex, the largest AZ production site in the US with over 700+ employees. We are located in the southwest corner of the state of Indiana, approximately 15 miles from Evansville, Indiana – the third largest city in the state. The Mt. Vernon site is both collaborative and Inclusive. Join us as a Digital Engineer, where you will be responsible for applying digital tools to develop digital use cases as per business requirements. This role is based on a strong understanding of AZ MTV manufacturing and supply chain processes, and you will be tasked with finding innovative ways to lean out processes and implement digital solutions. This role requires excellent technical skills, an understanding of the AZ manufacturing and supply chain processes, and strong communication skills. Being able to effectively challenge, influence and negotiate will be critical. This should be paired with a leadership attitude, lean thinking, and change management expertise.
Accountabilities:
As a Digital Engineer, you will work closely with digital project managers, data analysts, and data scientists to develop and implement site digital use cases. You will apply BI tools to develop factory dashboards as per business requirements and support site digital projects. You will also standardize site digital platforms, innovate digital systems and tools for business performance improvement, and partner with IT to deliver projects into Operations that ensure agile ways of working. You will also be responsible for executing work in compliance with GMPs, site policies, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Engineering (Computer Science, Automation or other related science)
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in software development, data engineering, data analytics or data science
- Work experience in a manufacturing industry with proven experience of successfully creating and deploying a variety of digital solutions to enable business change
- Knowledge of Lean methodologies including process mapping, problem solving and continuous improvement
- Strong engagement, communication and stakeholder management skills, including excellent presentation and influencing skills
- Experience of working in a regulated environment
- Experience of virtual collaboration to lead, shape and develop innovative solutions
- Ability to challenge, negotiation and influence

Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High proficiency in Tulip, Power BI, Power Apps or other similar digital applications in advanced data analytics

- Experience of working in a global organisation with complex/geographical context
- Pharmaceutical business awareness/business domain knowledge
