We also help merchants connect with their customers, process exchanges and returns, and manage risk. We enable consumers to engage in cross-border shopping and merchants to extend their global reach while reducing the complexity and friction involved in enabling cross-border trade.

PayPal, Inc. seeks Sr Software Engineer in Chicago, IL

Job Duties: Design, develop, and optimize core systems that power millions of transactions daily, directly impacting customers’ experiences and the company’s success. Contribute to building robust backend systems. Collaborate closely with experienced engineers to learn and grow skills. Develop and maintain backend components. Write clean, efficient code adhering to coding standards. Participate in code reviews and provide feedback. Partial telecommuting permitted within a commutable distance.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus one year of experience in the job offered or a related occupation. Employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, plus three years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.

Special Skill Requirements:

1.              Backend coding language such as Java or Python (1 year)

2.              Java or Python frameworks, such as Spring or Django (1 year)

3.              Database such as SQL or NoSQL (1 year)

4.              Cloud platform such as AWS (1 year)

5.              Observability platforms (1 year)

6.              Testing frameworks (1 year)

7.              REST and GraphQL API development (1 year)

8.              Cross-platform messaging queue systems (1 year)
