Maintenance Technician

Job Duties:

  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on plant equipment, including but not limited to electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and gauging systems.
  • Troubleshoots problems/ failures to identify root cause and performs repairs.
  • Consults with Plant Engineering and presents alternative parts and procedures to improve plant performance.
  • Takes lead on improvement projects from securing funds to validation.
  • Cleans, lubricates, and adjusts mechanical parts as necessary.
  • installs new equipment and performs upgrades on current systems.
  • Able to work under minimal direction and supervision.
  • Recognizes the” customer,” and is flexible in changing priorities as required.
  • Contributes to the general housekeeping of the entire plant area, and the assigned area in the maintenance department.
  • Will perform building maintenance as required.
  • Practice safety in all actions, including start up-shut down & lockout / tagout
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements as they pertain to daily activities.
  • Identifies and orders required parts.
  • Works with plant Quality personnel and related systems to ensure product quality standards compliance.
  • Works with the PM system to schedule preventive maintenance, enter data, close out work orders, log new equipment, and improve the system in a manner to minimize equipment down time and prevent failures.
  • Completes, maintains/ keeps up to date, and processes all necessary documents.
  • Trains other maintenance Professionals, and reports progress to supervisor.
  • Non-Specified Responsibilities as dictated by Management.

Job Requirements: 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency
  • A combination of 5+ years of technical training and experience
  • Ability to work with power tools, and hand tools.
  • Ability to use and read measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Knowledge of high and low voltage electrical systems, PLC control systems and how to troubleshoot them using standard devices such as volt meters. 
  • Solid working knowledge of computer applications (MS Office suite, internet accessibility)
  • Strong math, reading, communication, and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work A 12hr Pitman Rotation
  • Must be able to lift required tools up to 100lbs

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with sheet extruders and plastics manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with the troubleshooting and repair of pumps, blending equipment, extruders, gauging systems, HVAC systems, winders, dies, screen changers, gear drives, and various other systems.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.
