Qualifications

Check Point Firewall Engineer to support our client located in Buffalo, NY. This person will be responsible for the design, implementation, configuration, and maintenance of Check Point firewall solutions, with a focus on VSS and Maestro technologies. Your role will involve working closely with our internal clients to understand their requirements, assess their network security needs, and provide effective solutions using Check Point firewall products.

Responsibilities:

1. Design and deploy Check Point firewall solutions, with emphasis on Virtual System Stacking (VSS) and Maestro technology.
2. Collaborate with clients to understand their network security requirements and provide tailored solutions.
3. Configure and optimize Check Point firewalls, including policies, rules, and access controls.
4. Perform firewall installations, upgrades, and migrations, ensuring minimal disruption to client operations.
5. Conduct troubleshooting and issue resolution for firewall-related incidents, including analyzing logs and packet captures.
6. Monitor network traffic and security alerts to identify and mitigate potential threats or vulnerabilities.
7. Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and best practices in Check Point firewall technologies.
8. Provide technical support and assistance to junior engineers.
9. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate firewall solutions with other network and security components.
10. Develop and maintain documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.

Requirements:

1. Proven experience as a Check Point Firewall Engineer, with a strong focus on VSS and Maestro technologies.
2. In-depth knowledge of Check Point firewall products, including Check Point Security Gateway, SmartConsole, and Management Server.
3. Hands-on experience with Virtual System Stacking (VSS) and Maestro for managing large-scale firewall deployments.
4. Strong understanding of network security concepts, protocols, and technologies, including VPN, NAT, IPS, and IDS.
5. Proficient in configuring and troubleshooting network infrastructure components, such as routers, switches, and load balancers.
6. Familiarity with network and security protocols, including TCP/IP, VLAN, SSL/TLS, and SNMP.
7. Experience in performing firewall installations, upgrades, and migrations in complex environments.
8. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network security issues.
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and cross-functional teams.
10. Relevant certifications such as Check Point Certified Security Administrator (CCSA) and Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE) are preferred.
