Job Description

Our 70-person engineering firm is seeking an accounting/finance manager to lead our accounting department. The ideal candidate is a seasoned accounting professional with deep technical expertise, proven leadership skills, and an ability to drive results while developing talent. Qualifications

Core Responsibilities of this job:

• Deep understanding of GAAP and financial reporting best practices.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
• Monitor and analyze accounting data to uncover trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals; provide coaching and performance feedback.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning and decision-making.
• Ensure timely multi-state tax filings and coordinate with external tax advisors as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
• 8+ years accounting experience
• 5+years managing support staff
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Dynamic leadership and team motivation skills, with a proactive approach to collaboration.
• Experience coaching and developing staff, supporting growth and performance.
• Ability to analyze financial performance and translate insights into actionable strategies.
• High-level organizational and problem-solving skills, ensuring departmental efficiency.
• Excellent time-management, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Soft Skills

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to keep sensitive matters confidential
