What we do:
The Supervision Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY) supervises banks in the Second District. The objectives of supervision are to:
Evaluate and promote the overall safety and soundness of supervised institutions
Ensure supervised institutions’ compliance with relevant laws and regulations, including consumer protection
Facilitate the stability of the financial system of the United States
Support the growth and stability of the U.S. economy
Supervision is carried out through a combination of methods, including on-site and off-site examinations involving staff dedicated to the supervision of an individual firm and other professionals focused on analytical, policy and risk matters. Supervision is coordinated with other US agencies.
The Regional and Community Financial Institution (RCFI) function is responsible for monitoring and assessing the safety and soundness of state member banks and domestic bank holding companies under $100 billion in the Second District. This includes state member banks and bank holding companies headquartered in Puerto Rico. Within RCFI, regional banking organizations (RBOs) have total assets between $10 billion and $100 billion.
Your role as an Institutional Supervision Supervising Examiner:
Lead, plan and execute an effective supervisory approach tailored to the risk profile of assigned institutions.
Leverage analytics across a range of risk stripes and business areas to gain a deeper understanding of the risk profile and supervisory priorities of a range of firms in the RBO portfolio.
Provide insights to examiners engaged in examination activities.
Execute a monitoring program which includes meetings with bank management, review and analysis of internal risk reports, earnings forecasts and business strategies.
Analyze data about current industry trends and conditions to identify inherent and emerging risks.
Present conclusions via written and verbal presentations summarizing risks and supervisory concerns to internal and external stakeholders.
Lead the FRBNY in engaging supervised firms’ management and their Boards of Directors. Coordinate supervisory activities with those of other federal and state authorities.
What we are looking for:
Examination leadership or related experience, including experience leading examinations, evaluating financial components (capital, earnings, liquidity & sensitivity) and familiarity with the non-financial examination areas (cyber, IT, audit, BSA/AML, and more).
Ability to draw supervisory conclusions or identify risk analytic trends based on large amounts of text-based and numerical data across the regional bank portfolio.
Understanding of the financial system, including risk-taking, legal and organizational structures.
Knowledge of or willingness to quickly learn the risk-focused supervisory process and examination process for regional banks and bank holding companies.
Strong collaboration skills with an ability to build deep, productive working relationships in line with an inclusive culture that values learning and agility, curiosity, and sharing of diverse perspectives among the supervisory stakeholders.
Critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to dissect large amounts of data and provide well-supported conclusions.
Familiarity with data visualization and data science a plus (Tableau, R, SQL).
