To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a/an Manufacturing Process Engineer located in Austin, TX.
Reporting to the Director, Process Engineering the Manufacturing Process Engineer will be responsible for Plan, direct, and coordinate manufacturing processes by providing technical support maintenance of manufacturing methods by performing the following duties in the manufacturing phase of the product lifecycle
What a typical day looks like:
Understand manufacturing and test equipment concepts, technologies and techniques
Designs manufacturing processes within schedule and budgetary parameters.
Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
Define equipment maintenance requirements, identify root-causes of equipment failures and develop hands-on maintenance skillsWork with other engineering stakeholders and customers on problem solving and continuous improvement to the design of equipment and products and may develop corrective and preventive action plans
May be involved in development and and update of PFMEA for new products
May participate in control plan development
Write and update work instructions and other documents (e.g. specifications, procedures,…)
Analyzes and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
Confers with production group concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
Coordinates with customers to determine product specifications and design changes and responds to customer request.
Provides information for management decisions from a technical and technical cost perspective.
Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team,
Position requires a highly experienced individual (13+ years of SMT and PCBA manufacturing)
Strong experience on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) for PCBA (SMT/PTH/HLA)
Preferred experience on VALOR DFM and other related PCBA software (GC-Prevue, ViewMate, ODB Viewer, Valor NPI).
Robust acumen on New Production Introduction and process development for new designs.
Extensive SMT knowledge (paste printing, stencil design, tooling design, soldering processes, BGA rework, oven reflow) and with highly technical hands-on background.
Specific SMT equipment experience preferred: Dek, MPM, Koh Young SPI, ASM Siplace, YJLink, Cognex scanners, BTU reflow ovens, Koh Young AOI, Vitrox AOI, Electrovert Wave solder, Erza Selective soldering, Nordson Dage inspection systems.
Experience on DOE methodology and other statistical tools to identify and control critical variables at the SMT process.
Highly motivated and capable to work in a contract manufacturing production style and multitask with different projects/customers.
Capable to interact with all levels of the organization and serve as mentor and technical leader for other engineers and technicians.
Able to work with equipment suppliers (OEMS) on problem solving and technology improvements.
Ability to interface and communicate with different levels of the organization
