Hilltop Holdings is looking for a Finance Optimization Lead.
The Finance Optimization Lead is responsible for initiatives that enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of financial processes across the organization. This role will have ownership over and lead control activities within the Oracle Advanced Financial Controls module/system, while also supporting recurring and maintenance activities associated with optimization and efficiency efforts within that impact the finance organization. Effectively drive automation, process improvement, and analytics to optimize financial operations, streamline reporting, and improve decision making capabilities. The ideal candidate is an analytical thinker with a passion for continuous improvement and deep expertise in finance systems and operations.
- Utilize technology to facilitate and improve efficiencies related to periodic reporting data extraction and analysis capabilities.
- Manage and lead cross-functional teams/resources that will use technology to drive value by establishing, reviewing, and improving processes, procedures, controls, and business solutions.
- Drive both preventative and detective quality assurance/control efforts (e.g., trend analysis, metrics, identify anomalies, auto vs. manual JEs).
- Implement robust controls and review mechanisms to support high data integrity in financial reporting.
- Conduct regular analyses of financial processes and systems to identify risks and inefficiencies.
- Lead system upgrades, testing, and troubleshooting, ensuring integration with other business functions.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, external parties, other departments, and lines of businesses to identify opportunities/efficiencies that streamline and standardize our internal processes and data response efforts.
- Work closely with management, peers, and Information Technology, to guide personal and team day-to-day work activities as prioritized.
- Manage and communicate changes to priorities with stakeholders and leadership.
- Ensure internal controls over financial reporting are effectively supported through project and related process changes.
- General knowledge associated with existing automation-enabling technologies, and ability to both understand and evaluate innovative technologies and trends.
- Lead system upgrades, testing, and troubleshooting, ensuring integration with other business functions.
- Design, implement, and maintain robust systemic controls over financial reporting and accounting processes.
- Remain knowledgeable with regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to maintain compliance.
- Actively show a passion for continuous improvement focused on end user productivity, Finance shared service and line of business optimization, and enterprise process integration.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
- 5+ years of progressively challenging experience in accounting, financial systems, or related field
- Experience writing SQL scripts, data visualization tools (PowerBI), reports, testing, and troubleshooting is a plus.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent PC skills, including word processing and spreadsheets via Microsoft Office products as well as custom applications and systems.
- Excellent analytical, time management, organizational and critical thinking skills with the ability to multi-task and produce error-free work in a deadline-driven environment.
- Must be initiative-taking with strong attention to detail and elevated level of accountability.
- Takes ownership of tasks and sees projects through to completion.
- Ability to be flexible and able to work independently or as part of a team to meet project deadlines.
- Synthesizes complex or diverse information; collects and researches data.
- Demonstrates strong financial analysis, analytical skills, and diligence.
