Job Description

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Couple and Family Therapy, Assistant/Associate Professor, UNLV Marriage and Family Therapy Behavioral Health, Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine [R0000000].

Role of the Position

The COAMFTE-accredited Couple and Family Therapy (CFT) Program at the University of Nevada, Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine, at UNLV, is searching for a full time Assistant/Associate Professor. UNLV’s Couple and Family Therapy Graduate Program is currently comprised of three full-time faculty and approximately 60-90 students. The position is a 12 month contract.

The position will teach both undergraduate and graduate courses, including

practicum and/or internship. The position may also be required to teach during the summer.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Teach CFT courses (graduate and undergraduate)

  • Serve as clinical supervisor to CFT graduate students

  • Contribute to the UNLV CFT program by participating in weekly faculty meetings, student admissions decisions, curriculum reviews, clinical evaluations of students, and special committees as needed

  • Serve as a student-centered academic and professional development advisor and mentor to students

The SOM Faculty Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure (FAPT) Committee will use the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV (SOM) promotion criteria to recommend rank to the Dean of the SOM. Tenure consideration may be given upon hire on a case by case basis depending on verified previous credentials, the FAPT recommendation, and SOM Dean's recommendation.

Minimum Qualifications

This position requires an earned doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or other mental-health related programs, from a regionally accredited college or university. Experience and ability to teach web-based courses. Must hold certification as an AAMFT approved supervisor or be an AAMFT approved supervisor candidate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to speak Spanish

  • Significant Clinical Experience with a variety of client populations

  • Interest and/or experience in medical family therapy

  • Engage in one or more of the four types of scholarship: (A) investigative research (including quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods and program evaluation), (B) interdisciplinary integration, (C) application of theory/research/practice feedback loop,

  • and/or (D) transformation of teaching practices. As finalist you may be subject to a background check.
