We are transforming the way we manage data across the Environment Agency to become more data-driven, and enabling every data users to access trusted data for themselves. We have two exciting opportunities in our newly formed Chief Data Office to support the better use and management of data and information across the organisation. This role underlines our commitment to delivering real improvements for the environment and people by standardising and assuring data and information activities.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated team player, you will work closely with colleagues in:

• Establishing and updating the EA’s overarching roadmap got our data-driven organisation
• Understanding better the business’ future data and information needs
• Standardising and aligning data and information services across the organisation
• Overseeing the improved cohesion of data and information services across the EA to drive business insights
• Preparing future workforce requirements and plans for the data and information profession for the Environment Agency
• Drafting the EA’s corporate code of practice for data and information. The team   The newly formed Chief Data Office is part of the Data and Information Department within our Strategy, Transformation and Assurance Directorate.

You will work closely with colleagues from across the Department, as well as with data and information experts across the Environment Agency.

Experience/skills required   You will be self-motivated, innovative in your thinking and open to challenge. You will demonstrate excellent judgement and decision making. You will be responsive and flexible to changing priorities but have emotional intelligence and resilience and a collaborative “can-do” attitude. You must have experience in the following areas:

• a good understanding of providing data services at an organisational level
• have a good understanding of the data issues facing the Environment Agency, and have a good working knowledge of how colleagues across Defra's Digital, Data and Technology Services operate.
