Job Summary:  The Material Handler – Structural Steel / Overhead Crane Operator is responsible for safely moving, loading, and positioning structural steel beams, plates, and assemblies throughout the production facility using indoor gantry cranes and rigging equipment.

This role plays a critical part in supporting fabrication, welding, and shipping operations by ensuring materials are delivered accurately, efficiently, and safely to the appropriate workstations. The operator must demonstrate strong situational awareness, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety when handling large steel components.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate indoor gantry cranes to move structural steel beams, plates, and assemblies throughout the facility
  • Safely rig, lift, and position steel materials using slings, chains, chokers, and other rigging equipment
  • Load and unload materials from fabrication areas, workstations, and staging zones
  • Support production flow by delivering materials to welding, cutting, and assembly stations in a timely manner
  • Stage and organize materials for production and outbound shipment
  • Inspect rigging equipment and crane functionality prior to use and report any issues
  • Ensure proper load balance, stability, and securement when lifting and transporting materials <
