The Cruise Silicon team is developing custom SoCs that unlocks the future of autonomous driving platforms. We are looking for an experienced Senior Application Engineer to join our Silicon Development team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting all phases of SoC development with a focus on post-silicon work. You will work closely with the Systems Hardware team and Software teams to ensure the successful application of our custom silicon. Your work will focus on enabling the silicon in the autonomous driving systems. You will be developing software, tools and tests for our custom-designed SoCs. The ideal candidate will understand low-level embedded software development for custom SoC and have experience on both pre-silicon and post-silicon platforms.
What you’ll be doing:
Support all phases of SoC development with a focus on application to system hardware and enablement of embedded software development
Collaborate with the Systems Hardware team and Software teams to ensure the successful application of custom silicon
Firmware development including device drivers, boot loaders, power-management, and bare-metal implementations
Develop OS custom kernel drivers and APIs for hardware accelerators and peripherals
Producing technical documentation for Systems Hardware team, Software teams, and contract manufacturing partners
What you must have:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of experience
Proven working experience in hands-on software development and troubleshooting on embedded targets
Strong C or C++ programming skills
Strong scripting skills for automation and testing
Proven experience in embedded systems design with preemptive, multitasking real-time operating systems
Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review
Strong understanding of processor, system, and IO architecture fundamentals
Experience with interfaces and hardware subsystems ○ PCIe, ISP, DSP, NNA, GPU
Proficient in reading and interpreting data sheets and schematics for components, as well as using that information to formulate new documents.
Strong collaboration skills with focus on streamlined and precise process
Strong documentation and writing skills
The salary range for this position is $146,300 - 215,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, restricted stock units, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
