About the role

Description

Stony Brook University is undergoing tremendous growth.  Our adult outpatient psychiatry service is expanding and we are looking for individuals who welcome the challenge and satisfaction of providing outpatient psychiatric care to a diverse population in collaboration with a motivated group of clinicians, educators and researchers.

The Nurse Practitioner in the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Program will provide services to adult patients, including triage, diagnostic evaluations, follow-up care, prescribing, telepsychiatry, and individual counseling and group treatment as part of a multidisciplinary team.  There are also opportunities for supervising/mentoring nurse practitioner students and clinical research involving psychiatric inpatient and outpatient treatment.

Schedule:  Part-Time Schedule. Position is for 3 days per week and totaling twenty-four hours per week.  May include telemedicine schedule. *Please note, the telemedicine policy could be subject to change by Stony Brook University and Stony Brook Hospital if needed.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications: 
Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Nursing.  Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program.  Nurse Practitioner Certification in Psychiatry.  ANCC Board Certified.  Valid New York State license as a PMHNP.

Preferred Qualifications:
Clinical experience in an Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Program.  Five (5) years clinical experience in an Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Program. Buprenorphine Waiver.  Experience providing Supportive Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing to Adult Patients.  One (1) year experience in telepsychiatry.
