Job Title: Blaster

GENERAL OVERVIEW

Wausau Tile is seeking a hardworking, energetic, and safety-conscious individual to join our Site Furnishings team as a Blaster. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, quality-minded, and capable of working independently or collaboratively with minimal supervision.

Candidates must be able to read and understand production paperwork, including blueprints, specification sheets, and schedules. This role requires proficiency with measuring equipment, hand tools, and the safe operation of machinery and equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Machine Set-Up

• Prepare the media blasting booth and associated equipment for daily use.
• Perform start-up procedures, air pressure adjustments, mechanical calibrations, and pre-operation inspections.
• Ensure readiness of supporting equipment such as forklifts, hoses, safety gear, and air monitoring systems.

2. Blasting

• Operate a media blasting wand to finish concrete products using stainless steel shot media.
• Achieve the desired weathered or "weather stone" appearance by adjusting distance, pressure, and timing.
• Wear full protective gear including a blast helmet with supplied air.

3. Material Handling

• Use a forklift to gather, stage, and move products in and out of the blast room.
• Clean blasted products with an air wand and safely palletize them for further processing.

4. Machine Maintenance

• Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as filter replacements, system cleaning, equipment calibration, and hose checks.
• Complete daily, monthly, and quarterly maintenance logs to ensure proper equipment functioning.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Prolonged periods of standing, bending, reaching, stretching, and lifting.
• Frequently lift or move items up to 50 lbs.
• Repetitive use of hands, wrists, shoulders, knees, back, and neck.
• Ability to ascend/descend stairs and ladders safely.
• Pass a FIT Test.
