What You’ll Do
Discover’s Business Intelligence, Analytics and Data Engineering for Customer Service Engagement, Core Banking Operations and Customer Experience product family in Decisions and Analytics provides end-to-end data solutions, reporting and analytics insights to help business partners drive value and decision making.
This role will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and presenting the vision and roadmap for the BI, Analytics and Data Engineering for CSE, CBO and Customer Experience lines of business at Discover. This role will create product vision based on a thorough understanding of direct and indirect stakeholders needs working with business initiative owners and technology teams and ensures alignment with the Business Director and POs in same product family. Partners with Business Director and POs developing, maintaining and presenting the vision and overarching product roadmap Guides requirements, manages priorities, and is accountable for delivery. Empowered to make fast decisions about the initiatives, with input from leadership and other key stakeholders. Ensures the teams are synthesizing business objectives and agile development principles to operate and expand the functionalities.
The Product Professional is responsible for partnering with stakeholders to define the product vision at the team level while prioritizing "what" the team is working on to deliver value to the customer. Assesses the performance of and shapes the structure and direction of new/existing product lines and develops or assists in developing and executing strategic product plans. Assists the team in achieving specific goals for each product, including evaluating product performance, and identifying innovations to deliver business value and address customer needs to improve the product's performance. Defines product family prioritization mechanism and accept priorities in partnership with SMs, POs and architects.
How You’ll Do It
- Actively manages including vendor, risk and compliance and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management. Coach product teams to eliminate risks and wastes and to foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and learning.
- Facilitates ideation sessions to generate ideas to address gaps and or identified opportunities. Focuses on users journeys, ensuring quality and design is delivered to the customer’s requirements. Designs process for communicating (and demoing) Releases/Installs for internal and external stakeholders.
- Establishes overall goals, goals for each sprint, feature objectives and measures if objectives are met. Monitors Agile/Sprint metrics for areas of opportunity, and collaborate with the Engineering Manager for improvements, Collaborates with engineering and BI manager for engineer allocation.
- Builds product backlog, prioritizes its items to achieve Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) and continuously keeps it up to date. Holds meetings with the product team to continuously update product backlog. Ensures product features and processes align with applicable Discover compliance and risk management standards. Ensures product adheres to the highest quality standards, including releasing security patches not linked to customers.
- Participates in the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for the product team and ensure alignment with senior leadership (e.g., SPO, Dir, etc.). Creates and/or maintains key product documentation (e.g., customer journey map, technical specs, process mapping, etc.). Identifies and defines key non-functional requirements (e.g., security, availability, performance, etc.) to achieve necessary product metrics. Define and execute strategic product roadmaps to build new products, enhance existing products, or improve performance.
- Interacts and collaborates with stakeholders on key product considerations and aligns with product vision, features and roadmap. Leverages customer insights, feedback, financials, compliance, and risk data to define product features and roadmap in partnership with other SMEs.
