Job Summary

The Construction CDL Driver is responsible for transportation of goods on time, safely and according to customer requirements. Duties include loading and unloading cargo, maintaining their vehicles and completing paperwork related to delivery or driving.

This positions reports directly to Branch and Operations Manager.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Long-distance driving
• Communicating and coordinating with operations and fleet
• Obeying and following applicable traffic laws
• Securing cargo and properly arranging and balancing it within the vehicle
• Maintaining a detailed log of working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations
• Ensuring any mechanical issues with the vehicle are corrected before driving
• Planning routes and meeting delivery schedules
• Complying with truck driving rules and regulations
• Reporting defects, accidents and violations
• Performing daily maintenance of truck and trailers (refueling, cleaning, etc.)
• Loading and unloading truck and trailers forklifts and pallet jacks
• Interacting with customers in a professional manner
• Verifying loads for accuracy
• Navigating or managing routes via GPS and other in-field technology provided by the company
• Performing inspections to ensure the vehicle and cargo are safe, in working condition and aligned with laws and regulations
• Completes all required paperwork and submissions accurately and timely

Required Skills/Abilities

• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, to be familiar with not just traffic laws but rules regarding how often they are required to rest, maximum miles driven and the like
• A clean driving record, or they can have their license suspended or revoked
• Hand-eye coordination, for fast reaction time on the roads
• Visual and hearing acuity, in accordance with federal regulations
