The Director of Global Strategy is responsible for orchestrating the development of a winning top-level strategy for Cepheid globally. This will include characterizing long-term growth expectations from commercial drivers, developing commercial strategic initiatives that deliver targeted growth, advancing our perspectives on how we build competitive advantage, and prioritizing where we invest at the corporate level. We see significant learning and growth potential in this role due to the criticality of our commercial strategic initiatives, a highly dynamic market environment that requires rapid evolution of strategy, and significant opportunities to optimize our investments across regions.

This position is part of the Global Strategy function and will be Remote. Within Strategy, our vision is to chart Cepheid’s course through our strategy and to uniquely execute at the leading edge of our strategy through external engagement.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

• Assess growth opportunities from commercial levers, including performing market / competitor research, analyzing trends, evaluating go-to-market options, and developing business cases to inform management decisions

• Partner with Commercial and Marketing leadership to develop top-level corporate priorities for commercial investment, prioritizing and deprioritizing regions / countries, customer segments, disease areas, and functional areas based on strategic insights

• Lead cross-functional teams in building the business case and structure for Open Innovation (OI) partnerships with leading collaborators in the diagnostics space

• Establish the feasibility for long-term moonshot initiatives based on collaboration with R&D SMEs; and translate this information into straightforward business cases for executives within Cepheid and Danaher

• Assist in driving the learning and adoption of strategy standard work within the strategy team and the broader Cepheid leadership team

The essential requirements of the job include:

• Bachelor’s Degree with 12+ years of related work experience OR Master’s Degree with 8+ years of related work experience OR Doctoral Degree with 5+ years of related work experience

• 4+ years in business strategy or commercial planning or at a top-tier consulting firm, focused on growth, strategy or commercial domains

• 6+ years domain experience in diagnostics industry or adjacent industry experience (e.g., medical device, life sciences, science and technology tools)

• Develop the commercial strategic initiatives in Cepheid’s annual strategic plan, in partnership with Commercial Operations and WW Marketing leadership

• Beyond the annual strategic plan, drive strategic projects that drive further clarity in the organization’s commercial strategy or improve Cepheid’s capabilities in commercial strategy (for example, region-specific deep dives in partnership with Commercial Ops and WW Marketing)

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• MBA or Graduate Degree in relevant domain preferred

• Extensive experience working across multiple geographies and/or in global roles
