Job Purpose Summary:
The Senior Maintenance Mechanic is a member of the Maintenance Team reporting directly to the Maintenance Supervisor. The Senior Maintenance Mechanic ensures operation of production machinery and mechanical equipment by performing repairs and preventive maintenance in an effective, efficient, and safe manner with minimal direction or guidance from the maintenance manager or supervisor.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Installation, assembly and testing of new machines and equipment in compliance with OEM and Industry standards
- Inspect and monitor machines and process equipment regularly for signs of malfunctions, including visual inspections, listening for irregular noises or using diagnostic tools such as vibration analyzers
- Follow diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications
- Troubleshoot production machinery, resulting in successful repair and determination of root cause
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and service for equipment with the understanding of its effect on overall plant productivity
- Make recommendations for PM adjustments and/or PM additions to equipment.
- Perform emergency repairs on various types of machinery, including mechanical, basic electrical and hydraulic; identifying and replacing worn or damaged parts in a timely manner.
- Use a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions.
- Maintain machinery and the adjacent workplace in a state of appropriate cleanliness.
- Read and comply with work orders concerning service, modification or installation of machinery.
- Work effectively with other team members in a loud environment
- Perform lockout-tag out procedures
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Other duties as directed
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience:
- Capability to read/comprehend technical documents, such as: OEM Maintenance plans, Blue prints, Software system instructions, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications
- Aptitude to perform advanced mathematical calculations.
- Experience with CMMS programs used for receiving, performing, and completing Work Orders.
- Have a strong fundamental understanding of mechanical, hydraulic and circulating systems operation, contamination control and maintenance functions.
- Experience in the following skills and a strong background in at least four areas: electrical, plumbing, building and facilities maintenance, refrigeration, compressed air, reverse osmosis, boilers and steam distribution, cooling towers, conveyers and elevators (air cylinders, diverters, sensors, motor/speed controls), industrial controls (e.g., level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs, etc.), hydraulic systems (high pressure cylinders, pumps, valves, troubleshooting), packaging/high speed production, PLC (e.g., industrial maintenance, computer control systems, pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, reading, troubleshooting), pumps, fabrication, welding, machining equipment, etc.
- Strong knowledge of boiler and steam generation systems, including appropriate piping, valves, pressure relief and steam traps
- Knowledge of heat exchanging equipment including plate and frame and tube and shell processes
- Knowledge of pumps including centrifugal, vertical multi-stage, diaphragm, gear, and lobe
- Advanced knowledge of bearings, gears, greases, seals, vents, breathers, filtration and power transmissions components.
- Experience with grain and flour conveyance equipment including: bucket elevators, screw and drag conveyors
