This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at the Region 1 Office of Community Corrections in the Regional Directors Office.

 

Salary: $65,526.50 Annual Rate

 

SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • The incumbent in this position is responsible for supporting professional development initiatives for Community Corrections staff to maintain a workforce that meets both the agency’s mandatory training criteria and any associated certification or licensure standards required by an individual to perform the duties of the job he/she is assigned to.
  • Duties include conducting needs analyses; job task analyses; designing and evaluating training programs (i.e., writing, formatting, and partnering with subject matter experts on specific operations).
  • Curriculum development and enhancement.
  • Travel throughout the region to various facilities to support training program evaluation and implementation to the field training staff and trainees.
  • Serve as the first level of support to the Regional Training Coordinator/Supervisor, and other field staff engaged in the delivery of specialized, advanced, and general topic in-service training. This requires the incumbent to review lesson plans with qualified subject matter experts on a regular basis to ensure that the lesson plan content remains relative and provide access for instructors to continually gain new knowledge and improve their preparation and delivery skills.
  • Provides direct support and assistance to the Florida Corrections Academy – School 66 and the Director/Academy Coordinators in the field to ensure that all recruits receive training that meets the standards of the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. This duty includes providing Agency support during Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) audits of the Academy’s programs.
  • Assists in monitoring and evaluating technology-based training programs and prepares reports regarding the use of such programs. Conducts onsite monitoring activities necessary for the evaluation of staff training programs, including the Correctional Probation Officer basic recruit training, equivalency or training, and crossover training.
  • Act as liaison with other Department of Corrections entities to assist with training development and delivery and make recommendations on issues that impact the development or delivery of training within the department.
  • Assists in the development of plans related to the establishment of new training locations, including efforts to prepare new classrooms for certification, working with internal and external stakeholders to procure necessary equipment, monitor the receipt of goods and services procured for the purpose of training, and monitor the productivity throughout the establishment of new training locations.
  • Assist with budget planning and monitoring, including funds specifically dedicated to Community Corrections from the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Trust Fund Budget.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to establish, develop, implement, monitor, and enhance, when necessary, electronic workflows related to training activities.
  • Codify practices into standard operating procedures for training staff within Community Corrections and in the field.
  • Monitor data related to the facilitation of training and the success rate of trainees to assisting in the identification of best practices.
