We are looking for an experienced Principal Product Manager to represent the unique needs of our Public Sector customers who operate in regulated environments. This product manager will be responsible prioritizing Public Sector-specific features & requirements and building business case(s) for investing in additional certification levels such as FedRAMP High or IL-5. This person will prioritize which features and investments are most critical and work across teams to ensure appropriate prioritization. Our products are already widely used in the public sector globally, but we see significant opportunity to expand this business through increased focus and thoughtful prioritization, led in large part by this person.
What you will be doing:
- Tracking and prioritizing Public Sector-specific requirements and regulations and translating those into specific feature requests for teams across Elastic.
- Author and drive business cases for investing in additional regions and certifications such as FedRAMP / IL-5, and work across teams to bring these to market.
- Be the voice of our public sector customer and represent the external facts gathered to support and influence the roadmaps across Elastic
- Work with our Sales & Marketing teams on go-to-market, messaging, competitive analysis, and enablement.
- Capture market competitive and trend data, customer and community feedback, and usage information to develop product insights.
What you bring along:
- Strong experience (ideally 5+ years) in product management.
- Significant experience working with public sector requirements and regulations.
- Experience with data-oriented products and technology.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Practical experience of SaaS delivery models
- Curiosity and an open mind.

Bonus Points:
- Direct experience bringing commercial products to Public Sector
- Direct experience with the Elastic Stack or other search/analytical datastore product.
- Comfortable working in a very cross-functional role, with a highly distributed, global team.
- Experience with one or more of the common use cases for the Elastic Stack, such as application search, logging, metrics, APM, security analytics, GIS, etc.
Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary. This role does not have a variable compensation component.
The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below. In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below.
These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.
An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
