What You Will Do:
Our professionals help our clients to identify, evaluate, and solve some of their most complex challenges, assisting them in achieving their strategic goals and objectives to fulfill their mission. We help our clients transform their business processes, improve efficiency of operations, evaluate and improve internal controls, strengthen policies and controls, increase transparency and performance management, and comply with Federal laws and regulations. The nature of our projects can be fluid and requires self-motivated individuals that are willing to develop solutions on their own or in a team of highly skilled professionals. Project team members are provided the opportunity to interact with our clients’ senior management, as well as the opportunity to enhance their skills in the area of technical competency, business development, client service, leadership, project management, and people development.
Perform accounting research and provide clear and concise guidance to Federal Government clients that is rooted in laws and regulations
Draft and update federal financial statements including writing footnotes, including the Summary of Significant Accounting Policies (SOSAP), and the financial statements (Balance Sheet, Statement of Net Position, Statement of Budgetary Resources, and Statement of Net Cost)
Draft white papers and other materials explaining accounting positions taken and reasons why as explained through accounting guidance
Support identifying correct debit/credit entries to hit leveraging the United States Standard General Ledger (USSGL) and Treasury Financial Manual and explaining the rationale both verbally and written
Provide strategic guidance and technical assistance for audit preparation and remediation efforts (e.g., develop integrated enterprise strategies; develop, implement, and validate corrective action plans)
Support key leadership meetings by preparing briefing materials, participating in discussion, documenting major decisions, and capturing and tracking action items
Monitor and provide feedback on audit remediation efforts/plans executed by various organizations Advise clients on compliance issues, assessing compliance risks and controls, implementing compliance supervisory and control solutions
Support ad hoc requests such as researching topical accounting/auditing issues, developing and reviewing position papers, providing integration support, etc
Identify ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness of financial business processes
Daily responsibility for project team activities, high-quality project deliverables, and client relationship management
Provide coaching and feedback to junior team members
Convey ideas clearly in an oral and written manner, both one-on-one and in small groups
Conduct research to investigate client problems and work collaboratively with your team to formulate and recommend solutions
Assist clients in analyzing projects and programs to identify risks and help develop, apply, and monitor mitigations
Support clients in collecting and analyzing data, producing models and visualizations, and draw conclusions from the data to improve decision-making
Analyze and help develop and/or improve policies and procedures for a variety of programs and operational needs
In addition to client-facing responsibilities, this role will support important activities that contribute to the growth of our business, strengthen internal Guidehouse operations, and create a positive work environment for all Guidehouse employees. Some of these activities include but are not limited to:
Actively participate in business development activities, such as identifying potential client needs and ways Guidehouse can assist, develop proposals and white papers, participate in client and internal account meetings, and more
Develop learning and development materials, courses, and presentations to help Guidehouse employees expand and strengthen their skills
Lead Guidehouse programs and initiatives
What You Will Need:
The ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
At least 4 years of experience in federal financial statements and Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB) accounting requirements
Experience in financial statement compilation and reporting process as well as audit response and remediation in a
