What You'll Do:

The Director of Fleet Compliance & Training oversees fleet operations training, auditing and compliance programs for safe testing and operation of autonomous Class 8 trucks and trailers across multiple sites.  In the role you will oversee the IFTD and Safety Conductor Training Programs, Torc and DOT compliance programs, and the Fleet Development programs. 

• Leads and sets the vision for the development of Fleet Operations training, Fleet Compliance, and Fleet Development programs. 
• Manages Fleet Operations processes and response to the Torc and DOT Compliance Program.  
• Develops and leverages collaborative relationships with senior Fleet Ops leadership team stakeholders and key personnel across the Fleet Ops function. 
• Defines, communicates, and tracks key performance indicators for assigned teams. 
• Ensure regulatory compliance and documentation is maintained, appropriately filed, and managed according to policies and procedures and records retention. 
• Communicates in quick and appropriate formats to the VP of Fleet Operations.   
• Builds and maintains relationships among the Daimler and DTNA staff, third-party vendors such as drivers and staff, Torc’s department staff and teams, and understand their needs and drive alignment with Torc’s vision for safety, professional development, and compliance. 
• Assist in creating and maintaining guidelines and procedures to protect the confidentiality of all company, site, and program documentation and materials. 
• Review and approve applicable expenses and research issues regarding variances making referrals for additional documentation to appropriate resources.   
• Responsible for all People Management responsibilities for direct reports. 

What You'll Need to Succeed: 

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field of study.  Master’s degree preferred.  
• 8+ years of experience providing leadership to an organization and directly managing multi-disciplined safety teams and complex projects. 
• 10+ years of experience in safety with experience in engineering and/or transportation. Experience in autonomous vehicles and trucking preferred. 
• Experience in safety training, conducting safety audits and compliance, and delivery of world-class safety programs and systems. 
• Experience in program management and operations of highly technical teams.   
• Solid technical knowledge and ability to understand technical designs, challenges, and risks to optimize autonomous vehicles operations. 
• Must possess a passion and the ability to develop and grow colleagues to their highest potential. 
• Excellent skills in facilitating small and large groups and present on a wide variety of topics. 
• Excellent skills in visual design for presentations, operating Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and utilizing audio/visual equipment for optimal delivery and facilitation of initiatives. 
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to build trust and strong working relationships, effectively create and proofread documents and reports, and communicate to a diverse workforce. 
• Keen attention to detail to identify problems and processes that don’t comply with protocol 
• Critical/logical thinking to identify problems and provide solutions to ensure efficiency, safety, and quality. 
• Strong business insight and judgment, team orientation and collaborative style 
• Strong time management and organizational skills to plan, develop, coordinate resources, prioritize effectively, and maintain competing demands simultaneously with frequent interruptions and in a fast-paced environment. 
• Ability to ethically handle sensitive and confidential information with impartiality and professionalism.
