Position Overview
The Automotive Controller will have full financial oversight of assigned rooftops within our Miami automotive retail operations. This is a senior-level dealership accounting role requiring deep understanding of automotive retail operations across sales, service, parts, F and I, and manufacturer programs. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for financial integrity, internal controls, compliance with OEM standards, and active partnership with the General Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting and CloseDirect and complete month-end close within OEM deadlinesProduce accurate financial statements compliant with GAAP and manufacturer reporting standardsReview and validate all balance sheet schedules prior to submissionEnsure accuracy of factory composite reporting
Balance Sheet and Schedule IntegrityWeekly review of all balance sheet schedulesFull reconciliation of floorplan payable and interestReconciliation of cash in transit and clearing accountsOversight of contracts in transit and funding schedulesReconciliation of warranty receivables and factory incentive receivablesMonitoring of parts inventory and obsolescence reservesOversight of reserve accounts and F and I chargebacksElimination of aged or unexplained reconciling items
Operational OversightSupervise Receivables, Payables, Title Clerks, and Staff AccountantsImplement and enforce strong internal controlsReview deal postings daily for accuracy of gross, incentives, and product penetrationOversee payroll accuracy, including commission calculationsMonitor departmental expense controls and profitability
OEM and Lender ComplianceReconcile manufacturer statements monthlyEnsure compliance with OEM accounting policiesReconcile lender floorplan statements and curtailment schedulesPrepare documentation for internal and OEM audits
Systems ExpertiseStrong proficiency in Tekion Advanced Excel skillsAbility to implement KPI dashboards and reporting tools
QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.Minimum of 7 years of experience in automotive dealership accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.High integrity and leadership capabilityPrior Controller or Assistant Controller experience preferredExperience in multi-rooftop environments strongly preferredProficiency in dealership accounting software (Tekion preferred) and Microsoft Excel.Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and financial reporting standards.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
