Job Description

The Senior Supervisor, Oligonucleotide Production is responsible for leading multiple production teams across multiple shifts, developing staff, fostering a culture of safety and quality, and participating in the daily manufacture of custom oligonucleotides. The Sr. supervisor oversees production scheduling, instrumentation and maintenance across multiple manufacturing labs and shifts. The Senior Supervisor is an expert in all aspects of their area of responsibility and ensures production is performed in a timely and efficient manner. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential functions satisfactorily.

  • Supervise oligonucleotide production team members in a high-throughput DNA synthesis manufacturing laboratory operating under ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 Quality Management Systems
  • Conscientiously learns and implements the requirements of the ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 Quality Management Systems.
  • Diligently enforces the terms of a quality contract, which describes the relevance and importance of the employee’s work to the achievement of LGC’s quality objectives
  • Prioritize, and perform manufacturing procedures while ensuring company policies/procedures are followed
  • Operate and troubleshoot MerMade, H-8, Expedite, OligoPilot 100, and in-house built DNA Synthesis platforms
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring manufacturing issues, and execute actionable tasks on      potential CAPAs
  • Maintain batch records, equipment logs, and other production records as directed per company procedures
  • Ensure manufacturing priorities are completed by: Properly scheduling and assigning personnel
    • Communicating expectations and priorities to team members
    • Monitoring personnel and resources
    • Facilitating corrections to malfunctions within processes Appropriately scheduling maintenance activities
    • Verifying equipment is functioning and properly maintained
  • Communicate and coordinate with internal and external suppliers, production team members and production managers to ensure:
    • Raw materials are ordered, processed through QC, and stored appropriately                    
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with internal suppliers, production team members and production managers to ensure the most efficient use of time and resources, initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Effectively communicate with maintenance staff to ensure production equipment is functional and available for production.
    • Equipment is Maintained and repaired in a timely manner
    • Verify equipment is functioning properly
  • Review processes and ensure appropriate work instructions are in place as well as write and review manufacturing procedures and documents as needed
  • Provide effective leadership through:
    • Communicating job expectations
    • Initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures Performance evaluations and goal setting
    • Active coaching and mentoring of team members; developing personal growth opportunities
    • Supplying technical expertise to team members
    • Enforce company policy and work with management and HR to address individual performance issues
  • Proactively interface with production group and internal customers to identify and implement areas of continuous improvement
  • Executes on objectives and goals to support a positive, efficient, and motivated team
  •  Participate in recruiting and selection of team members
  • Oversee and verify training activities
  • Responsible for overseeing the safe use of hazardous chemicals in a manufacturing environment.
  • Work with EH&S on continuous improvement projects for area safety
  • Supply regular feedback to management on the status of the team, instrumentation, process, and other duties assigned by management.
