About the role:
The Category Manager is responsible for establishing and managing key and complex supplier relationships to build resiliency into the supply chain and ensure continuity of supply. With a focus on the Plastics, Resins, and Chemicals category (PRC), this role is responsible for executing projects designed to reduce costs, mitigate risks, improve quality, and support continued category growth. The incumbent will work cross-functionally within the organization to drive alignment to category strategies and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve business objectives and drive meaningful change. At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing comprehensive sourcing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance
- Identifying potential suppliers and evaluating their capabilities, capacity, and reliability to meet organizational needs
- Nurturing and managing key supplier relationships; negotiate and manage contracts to ensure compliance with terms and conditions
- Monitoring supplier performance to ensure adherence to quality standards and delivery timelines; implement corrective actions as necessary
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align sourcing activities with overall business objectives and drive continuous improvement
- Driving cost reduction initiatives through competitive bidding, effective negotiation, and creative cost structure solutions
- Understanding and leveraging industry trends, market conditions, and technological advancements to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement within the sourcing function
- Maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures to support the BSC commitment to patient safety and product quality
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline
- Minimum 7 years of experience in sourcing, supply chain management, or supplier relationship management
- Ability to travel globally up to 15%
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working in medical device or similarly regulated industry
- Experience with sourcing extruded plastic components
- Ability to communicate effectively with individuals on all levels both internally and externally
- Project management and leadership experience with ability to influence internal and external teams
- Effective decision-making and negotiation skills with ability to work independently to drive results
- Organized and detail oriented with strong critical thinking and analytical skills

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
