JOB PURPOSE
The Visiting Extension Outreach Associate, Health and Community Wellness, serves as a full-time 12-month academic professional and has the primary responsibility for planning, developing, and implementing digital education content, curriculum, instructional materials, and other resources for University of Illinois Extension’s programs. The focus will be on the development of materials for training and skill enhancement of food service professionals and allied health workers. This position is a member of the HCW statewide team and supports the creation of instructional materials for statewide programming.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in nutrition, dietetics, public health, community health, family and consumer sciences, or a related field. Candidates with a Master’s degree in progress may be considered for interviews, but degree must be completed by hire date.
  • At least two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with developing nutrition or health education materials.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with external vendors, such as videographers, graphic designers, and web developers.
  • Experience with digital education technology platforms, digital editing software, and online module creation.
  • Registered dietitian or registered dietitian nutritionist.
  • Familiarity with Dietary Guidelines for Americans or Child Nutrition Programs.
  • Experience with preparing educational materials for varying literacy levels.
  • Experience with University of Illinois Extension.
  • Valid driver’s license.

SPECIFIC JOB INFORMATION:
One full-time position is available.
Location: Urbana-Champaign Campus. In state hybrid remote work arrangements are available
This is a security-sensitive position.  Comprehensive background checks, including but not limited to a criminal conviction information check, a CANTS check, and a review of the Registered Sex Offender list, will be conducted.

EXAMPLES OF THE WORK

  • Develop and launch new online training modules for food service or allied health professionals.
  • Collaborate with creative teams to produce videos, graphics, and interactive learning tools.
  • Present educational resources at statewide conferences and professional development events.
  • Review evaluation data and make updates to existing curriculum based on participant feedback.
  • Build relationships with subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify emerging workforce training needs.
  • Contribute to grant-funded projects that expand access to health and nutrition education across Illinois.

Strong communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Knowledge of adult education principles. Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Ability to use technology for reporting, communication, and educational assistance.
