About the role
ECC is seeking a Staff Environmental Scientist for work in the Plattsburgh, New York area. This position will spend at least 50% of the time writing work plans, reports and working with data. This office and field position is primarily responsible for helping plan, select, coordinate and implement scientific and environmental services to fully address the scope of work on environmental remediation and hazardous waste management projects in accordance with Company standards, regulatory criteria, and contractual obligations. In this position you will:

- Under direct supervision, prepare environmental reports and plans
- Analyze environmental/ site/ material data
- Perform cross-disciplinary safety/quality, project controls, procurement and contracts, and estimating duties as assigned
- Report to the site and conduct field sampling, construction, engineering, and other miscellaneous field support services
- Maintain budget and schedule for assigned tasks
- Apply industry standards of practice for selected technology, adhering to regulatory codes, building codes, national/ local standards, and company policies and SOPs
- As directed, report to the field to perform and/or inspect or observe fieldwork, and review work of personnel, subcontractors and consultants to ensure compliance with approved plans and acceptable tolerances
- Complete related documentation (field reports, logs, meeting minutes, online submittal sites), in a timely and accurate manner
- In addition to the accountabilities above, other responsibilities, tasks, and deliverables may be assigned to the incumbent of this position
- Apply basic knowledge of general scientific and engineering principles and analytical tools, as directed
- Apply education of environmental processes, remediation technologies, design and construction technologies as directed
- Implement Federal environmental regulations, DoD guidelines, OSHA standards, USACE QC protocol, building codes/ standards, and FAR, as directed
- Communicate effectively by written and verbal means
- Perform multiple concurrent tasks and meet timelines, as directed
- Work well independently and as a team
- Competent in using Microsoft Office products, email systems, and Windows
- Able to spend at least 50% of the time writing work plans, reports and working with data
- No previous experience required but internship preferred
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Life, Earth or Natural Sciences, Geology, Engineering, Hydrogeology, or related field from an accredited institution. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for this requirement.
- Prior internship in field of study preferred
