Position Summary
The Director of Intensive Care Unit manages daily operations of the Intensive Care Unit. Directs and supervises functions and activities; interprets policies, procedures, standards and regulations as appropriate. Partners with Medical Staff to ensure the quality and productivity of Intensive Care Unit at South Arkansas Regional Hospital.
Qualifications/Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
Master's Degree in Nursing preferred. Must possess current licensure in the State of Arkansas.
Experience:
Five years ICU experience. Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience. Minimum 3 years staff experience.
Other Skills:
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Time management, organization and multitasking of competing priorities.
Licenses/Certificate:
Current licensure to practice as an RN in the State of Arkansas (includes multistate)

- Prepares and provides for departmental needs with budget guidelines.
- Actively participates in managerial meetings.
- Interviews and selects new employees.
- Provides for training and orientation of new employees.
- Monitors and evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of new employees within the probationary period.
- Enforces Hospital policies and procedures.
- Submits documentation, charges, and medical records in a timely manner.
- Responsible for all staff related requirements of unit, including recruitment, corrective action, and daily labor management of staff based on case load and skill mix.
- Develop and implement plans, policies, and procedures that will meet or exceed all codes, regulations, laws, JCAHO standards, and will provide effective and efficient equipment management.
- Participate on assigned committees and attend all required meetings.
- Enforce accepted safety practices, report safety hazards, and initiate appropriate action.
- Ensure appropriate documentation is maintained.
- Directs maintenance of department facilities, equipment, supplies and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health comfort and safety for patients and staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
