Prep Cook and Food Service Worker Key Duties

As the Cook!
Prepares food according to standardized recipes to provide residents with consistently accurate, tasteful, and cost-effective meals.
  • Serves meals or prepares for delivery by using correct portioning, meeting outlines standards, ensuring that the food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty. Tastes all prepared food items for quality control.
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintain standards of cleanliness. Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food- handling procedures.
  • Perform other job-related duties as they become required.
As the Dietary Aide!
  • Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of meals, beverages, and snacks.
  • Delivering trays and carts to resident floors and dining rooms
  • Assembling resident meal trays. Working in the dish room and pot sink
  • Sweeping and mopping. Disposal of trash and recyclables
  • Follow proper cleaning techniques of all kitchen equipment and work areas. 
  • Perform other job-related duties as they become required.


Cook and Food Service Worker Qualifications

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Prior cooking experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or restaurant settings preferred.
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and adjust as needed for residents
  • Must have verbal and written communication skills.
