About the role

Position Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Engineering Intern to support our chemical manufacturing operations during the summer term. This internship offers hands-on experience in a regulated, safety‑focused production environment and provides exposure to standard operating procedure (SOP) development, production data analysis, day‑to‑day manufacturing support, and continuous improvement initiatives. The intern will work closely with engineering, operations, and quality teams to improve documentation, analyze production performance, and assist with projects that enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and reliability. Key Responsibilities Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Assist in writing, revising, and standardizing SOPs for manufacturing and support processes
  • Observe production activities and collaborate with operators and engineers to accurately document procedures
  • Ensure SOPs align with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
Production Data Reporting & Analysis
  • Collect and organize production data (e.g., throughput, yields, downtime, quality metrics)
  • Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement in manufacturing performance
Production Support
  • Provide engineering support to day‑to‑day manufacturing operations
  • Assist with troubleshooting process deviations, equipment issues, and documentation gaps
  • Support implementation of process changes and validate updates to operating procedures
Continuous Improvement Projects
  • Participate in lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support root cause analysis, corrective actions, and follow‑up tracking
  • Assist with small improvement projects focused on safety, efficiency, cost reduction, or quality improvement
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all plant safety rules and participate in safety training and meetings
  • Support a strong safety culture by identifying hazards and improvement opportunities
Qualifications Required
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and basic data analysis
  • Willingness to work in a manufacturing environment and follow strict safety protocols

The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $22.00 – $28.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
